British Riders Dominate CSI5* Grand Prix at the Longines Horse Show of Lausanne 2016

Monday 12 September 2016

Yesterday’s CSI5* Grand Prix at the Longines Horse Show of Lausanne in Switzerland saw an all British line up on the podium and it was Robert Whitaker from Sidcup, Kent who topped the leader board with Mandy Hall and Clare Whitaker’s Catwalk IV.

Beginning this class as one of forty-nine competitors, Robert took on the testing track and returned home with just a single time fault in round one, a score that he was then to better in the jump off when he produced a textbook clear. Robert and Catwalk IV finished on a combined score of just one fault in 60.99 seconds, a result which saw them claim the €89,100 first prize.

Emma O’Dwyer from Churchdown, Gloucestershire was just pipped into second place on board Joanne O’Dwyer’s HHS Figero. Adding just one time fault in each round to their overall score, Emma and HHS Figero secured second place on two faults in 62.07 seconds.

Finishing off the British display of dominance was William Funnell from Dorking, Surrey with his own and Donal Barnwell’s Billy Congo. Coming in well under time with the fastest clear in round two, William added nothing to his first round score of four faults and he blasted through the finish in 55.97 seconds.
