Monday 16 February 2015
Saturday’s 1.45m Grand Prix class held during the FEI CSI2* & CSI1* at Roosendaal in The Netherlands on Saturday 14th February was dominated by a British rider after they fought off the challenge from several different nations.
Netherlands based Brit Sam Hutton took the top spot in the CSI2* 1.45m PSC Den Goubergh Grand Prix with Heidi Du Ruisseau Z, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Dunwalke Ltd. The combination beat sixty other competitors to win in excess of €6,000 after battling it out in an eleven strong jump off.
Five double clears were produced overall and the fastest of those came from Sam and Heidi Du Ruisseau Z after they crossed the finish line in 35.16 seconds to leave them 23/100th of a second quicker than home rider Leopold Van Asten on VDL Groep Zidane.
Speaking from his European base at Stal Tops in Valkensvaard, The Netherlands, Sam commented “It was a privilege to be back on board Heidi and I am grateful to the Thornton family for letting me compete on her again. It was only her second show back after her winter break. We came fourth in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Opglabbeek in Belgium and she felt great at the weekend, so I knew that we could go for the win."
