British Grooms Aassociation Launches Groom Clean

The British Grooms Association (BGA) has developed equestrianism’s first online e-learning course to educate grooms and riders about the importance of anti-doping.

Clean sport is vital. As well as protecting the welfare of the horses it also ensures the sport we love is safe and genuine. Up until now there has been a real lack of bespoke education for grooms in this important subject matter.

The BGA have worked alongside the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) to deliver this interactive e-learning module covering all aspects of anti-doping and controlled medication. On completion of the course learners will receive a Groom Clean certificate.

Team GBR dressage groom Alan Davies, who works for Charlotte Dujardin says, “The BGA’s Groom Clean is an invaluable tool for all grooms. It is interesting and informative and covers all of the topics in a clear and concise manner. Clean sport is a very serious topic so it is very important that grooms have access to this information. We have to be aware of so many regulations and also to be aware of how our horses can be affected in many different situations.”

Groom Clean e-learning, sponsored by SPILLERS, is free for all BGA members, or can be accessed by non-members for just £14.50. Standard membership to the BGA costs just £19.50.

Luke Saunders, SPILLERS® Brand Manager, said “SPILLERS is delighted to support this important initiative which gives grooms excellent practical guidance on anti-doping. All our products adhere to the British Equestrian trade Association (BETA) Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) Code, to ensure that the brand’s renowned quality and safety can be relied upon."
