British Equestrian Federation launch Trot To Tokyo campaign

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is welcoming an unusual co-worker to its offices for the next year.
A mechanical horse simulator, affectionately known as Henry, will be moving into the BEF offices in time for the launch of their Trot To Tokyo challenge.
Taking place between 24th July 2019 and the start of the Tokyo Olympic Games exactly one year later, Trot To Tokyo will see Henry attempt to clock up 5,920 miles – the approximate distance from the BEF offices to Tokyo – with help from the BEF staff, Team GBR riders and the general public.
Throughout Trot To Tokyo, Henry will be stabled in the middle of the BEF offices, just metres from the photocopier, for staff to take turns to ride on him during the day.
When he’s not in the office, Henry will be visiting shows and equestrian events across the country, starting with the Royal International at Hickstead, West Sussex, with help from the BEF’s member body, the British Horse Society. Members of the public can pay a donation to ride on Henry at these events, with the miles they accumulate during their time in the saddle going towards his overall total. Funds raised will go towards helping Team GBR’s equestrian athletes to reach the Tokyo Olympic Games next year.
Updates on Henry’s progress will be posted on the BEF’s social media feeds so supporters can follow him on his journey.
The launch of Trot To Tokyo coincides with the BEF’s announcement that Georgie Spence and William Fox-Pitt will be representing Great Britain at the Ready Steady Tokyo test event on 12–14 August.
