British Breeding Combine Stallion Event with Equine Bridge and Futurity Awards

The British Breeding Stallion Event, sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds in association with the Competition Stallions Guide, will be held in conjunction with the Equine Bridge ridden young horse performance evaluations and the Baileys Futurity Awards along with a training Masterclass for the first time. Tickets are now on sale for the event which will be held at Arena UK on 11th and 12th February.
The Stallion Event, to be held on Saturday 12 February, will feature 60 of the top stallions from across the disciplines standing in the UK, including Shane Breen’s Golden Hawk. Oliver Townend will show the stallions Jacondrik and Comfort, for Caunton Manor Stud. Each stallion will show off his paces and talent during a live performance in the arena, before returning to the stables which will be open for visitors to meet the stallions up close and personal. Breeders will have the opportunity to chat with the stallion’s connections and ask those all important questions to help make their breeding decisions.
The event will also host the Dressage category of the Equine Bridge, a two-day performance evaluation of young horses that have qualified through the British Breeding Baileys Futurity series. Having gained a score of 8 or above as a 3-year old or over to qualify, the Equine Bridge gives valuable feedback on training for their sport.
In addition to the £1000 Bursary for the highest scoring entry, the top 3 entries in each age category will benefit from free membership for a year with British Dressage. Winners will also receive additional prizes, such as branded saddle cloths and Baileys feed vouchers.
The evaluator and trainer for the dressage category is international grand prix rider, trainer and FEI 5* Judge, Isobel Wessels, who will give entries a training session on day 1 before they undergo a veterinary evaluation with Dr Jane Nixon and her team of experts, including Master Saddler and President of the Society of Master Saddlers Helen Reader and Farrier Dan Harmon FWCF. The test rider for dressage horses will be Beth Bainbridge, a highly experienced rider of young horses who brings a wealth of experience to the team.
There is a very special treat in store on Friday 11 February at 7pm, with the new AES sponsored Masterclass, focusing on the training and development of young horses up the levels. This year’s Masterclass will be given by Isobel Wessels who has put together an exciting team of riders and horses with the generous support of Elite Dressage and Matt Hicks Equestrian. Tickets for the Masterclass are available separately or as part of the VIP package for the Stallion Event.
The event will also host the Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Awards, a chance to celebrate the achievements of British Breeders during the 2021 Futurity series. Presentations to the top breeders will be made in the main arena during the stallion event.
