Britain's Young Rider team in Second after Round 1 of the FEI Jumping Youth European Championship.

At the FEI Jumping European Championship for Young Riders, Juniors and Children 2022 in Oliva Nova, Spain, the action kicked off on Tuesday (12 July) with the first competitions for Juniors and Young Riders and the Children jumping their first round on Wednesday morning (13 July).

Juniors
In the 1.40m Junior competition, 99 horse and rider combinations took to the start in the first round. Judged as a Table C, penalties were added to the time.

Francis Derwin (IRE) moves on to day two as the leader on a score of zero penalties, followed by Evelyne Putters (BEL) as rank two with a score of 0.84 and Niamh Mcevoy (IRE) ranks third with a score of 1.49. For the teams, the three best results from the five team members count. In the team competition, Ireland leads the way on 3.67 penalties, followed by Belgium on 8.71 in second and Poland on 9.57 in third. 

Britain’s Junior team members rankings are as follows after round 1:

Red Morgan - 22nd on 4.09 faults

Jennifer Billington - 26th on 4.32 faults

Claudia Moore - 45th on 6.07 faults

Lauren Caroline - 53rd on 6.85 faults

Iwan Carpenter - 61st on 8.27 faults.

The Team sits in 10th place on 14.48 faults after the first round.

 

Young Riders
The Young Riders had 86 pairs at start in their first round of competition, judged as a Table C and jumped over a course set at 1.45m and penalties were added to the time.  

Ireland leads the way again, with Jason Foley (IRE) in first on a score of zero faults, followed by Lily Attwood (GBR) on 0.75 faults in second and Jules Orsolini (FRA) on 1.61 faults in third. For the Young Rider teams, the three best results from the five team members count. Ireland leads the way on a score of 5.96 penalties, followed by Great Britain on 6.84 in second and Belgium on 7.08 in third. 

Britain’s Young Rider team members rankings are as follows after round 1:

Lily Attwood – 2nd on 0.75 faults

Grace Debney - 12th on 2.75 faults

Oliver Fletcher - 16th on 3.34 faults

Lila Bremner - 62nd on 7.50 faults

Elizabeth Baker - 70th on 9.38 faults

The Team sits in 2nd place on 6.84 faults after the first round.


Children
The 1.20m competition had 94 combinations start in the first round of the competition, judged as a Table A, and is jumped against the clock.

This time France leads the way, with Lucas Delachaussee (FRA) finishing first with 0 faults in a time of 71.52, followed by Daphne Giunti (ITA) in second with 0 faults in a time of 71.93 and Emma Tallulah Behn (NOR) who finished third with 0 faults and a time of 73.08. After the first round, 49 riders completed with 0 faults, 27 riders completed with 4 faults and 5 riders with 8 faults.

9 nations have finished round 1 on 0 faults whilst 3 nations have finished the round on 4 faults.

Britain's Children team members rankings are as follows after round 1:

Rosie Campbell – 38th with 0 faults in a time of 83.13

Emily Gulliver – 49th with 0 faults in a time of 86.96

Angel Sheridan – 60th with 4 faults in a time of 77.92

Noora Von Bülow – 76th with 4 faults in a time of 84.92

Chloe Morris – 81st with 8 faults in a time of 85.74

The Team sits in 10th on 4 faults after the first round.
