Biosecurity Measures following confirmation of EHV cases in Europe

British Showjumping have received notification from the FEI confirming cases of EHV in Lier, Belgium and Oliva, Spain.

All horses returning to the UK from the above shows from 00.01hrs on Saturday, 18th February will be required to isolate and will not be allowed to attend any National Competitions until the period of isolation is completed or they have undertaken laboratory tests which confirm negative results.  For FEI competition, most horses will be required to isolate for 21 days with a PCR test at the end of this period. Within UK, it will be possible to reduce the period of isolation to around 14 days by undertaking additional Fast Track laboratory testing.

We would like to remind all members about the need to have biosecurity measures in place when introducing new horses to yards and the importance of monitoring horse’s temperatures and health especially if you are stabling away from home amongst other horses.

Information on Biosecurity is available at Biosecurity - British Equestrian
