Tuesday 20 June 2017

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has today, 20 June, confirmed the appointment of David Hamer to the Head of Performance Pathways role. David will be one of the World Class Programme’s Senior Leadership Team, which is responsible for developing and evolving the programme to deliver success during the Tokyo cycle and beyond.

World Class Performance Director Gordon Burton says; “I’m delighted to welcome David to this new and exciting role. He brings with him a wealth of pathways experience from his work to date across the programme and knowledge of the equestrian sporting landscape.

“For our athletes, there will be a visible pathway to allow us to systematically support and develop riders in the pursuit of excellence with the intent of World and Olympic and Paralympic success. This new role will enable us to further develop a more collaborative and cohesive partnership with our Member Bodies as we share best practice and develop further initiatives across the Pathway.”

Currently the lead for the England Excel Talent Programme and Discipline Coordinator for the World Class Podium Potential Para-Dressage squad, he will take up his new role on 1 July 2017.

David Hamer adds; “I have been privileged to be able to work with staff and athletes within the World Class Programme and the wider talent pathways for the past 14 years. There are great opportunities to further enhance the approach to athlete development in the run up to Tokyo and beyond and I am very much looking forward to being able to continue to work with these talented individuals in this new role.”

In a change to the structure of the Para-Dressage Programme, Performance Manager Sarah Armstrong will now oversee both Podium and Podium Potential squads.
