Anya Dewey-Clarke is unbeatable in Hickstead 128cm championships
Wednesday 23 July 2025

Ten-year-old Anya Dewey-Clarke made it back-to-back wins in today’s Pro Ponies UK British Showjumping Winter 128cms Championships.
It was the second year in a row that she had won the title with her 17-year-old pony Jim, and Anya was able to learn from last year’s winning experience. “I learned I can definitely trust Jim, and that he tries his absolute heart out for me – and that we can do really tight turns,” said Anya.
Just like last year, today’s jump-off became a match race between Anya and the 2023 winners Annabel Widdowson (Bunbury Conquest), and once again, Anya secured the victory – this time by nearly a second and a half – by finding an inside turn that few riders would dare to attempt.
“I think I probably gained the most time back by going inside to number ten, like we did last year to number two, and then we got a really good gallop down to the finish! But I never thought it was possible to win two years in a row,” said Anya, who’s been busy building a name for herself as one of Britain’s leading pony jumpers – and social media stars, with more than 180,000 YouTube followers.
Anya, whose lap of honour was as speedy as her jump-off round, will now make her debut in the 138cm class with two rides – but whatever happens, nothing will dim the shine of her morning with double-champion Jim. “He’s the best pony I’ve ever had,” she said.
The Agria Royal International Horse Show takes place at Hickstead in West Sussex from 23-27 July. Tickets are available at the gate or from www.hickstead.co.uk. The action will also beshown live on ClipMyHorse.TV.
