Amanda Derbyshire Takes First Place in the Miami Beach CSI2* 1.40m/1.45m Grand Prix
Monday 11 April 2016
Against the back drop of gentle surf in turquoise waters and crisp blue skies, the Miami leg of the Global Champions Tour saw Amanda Derbyshire keep her composure to take first place in the Miami Beach CSI2* 1.40m/1.45m Grand Prix.
Amanda from Preston, Lancashire was amongst three British riders to contest for the top spot in this strong class of thirty-eight competitors. With very few fences falling, eighteen combinations came through the first round clear, so time was of the essence. On board Lady Maria BH, a 10 year-old grey mare owned by Jamie Fry, Amanda produced a calm and collected round to leave all the fences standing. Posting a time of just 31.04 seconds put her into first place, just a fraction of a second in front of America’s Lucy Deslauriers riding Hester, who secured second place in a time of 31.38 seconds.
