Alexander Mclean seals victory in the SEIB Winter Novice Championship Qualifier at Morris Equestrian Centre
Tuesday 19 November 2019

The SEIB Winter Novice Qualifiers headed up to Scotland last Thursday with Morris Equestrian Centre in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire hosting the next qualifier of the series. Seventy-three competitors came forward to take on the 1.10m track designed by Rafael Suarez and it was Alexander Mclean who produced the fastest double clear of the class to go on and take the top spot.
Seventeen of the initial starting field produced a first round clear with nine of those finishing on a clean sheet in the jump-off. With only two qualifying tickets on offer for the Championship Final at the Longines Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead next summer, the clock proved pivotal in the distribution of tickets.
Seventeen year-old Alexander Mclean made his journey from Lasswade, Midlothian a worthwhile trip. He piloted David Dixon’s Incredibola, a 6 year-old Dutch bred mare whom Alexander has been competing since June, to victory in a time of 35.38 seconds after shaving 2.13 seconds off the leading time set by Rachael Connor. Rachael aboard her own Juvenosa, a 5 year-old Dutch bred mare, produced their round in 37.51 seconds to finish in second place.
