The third leg of the International Stairway Series 2022 was held at the Royal Highland Show and it was Adrian Speight from Grimsby, North Lincolnshire, who secured the win on Millfield Baloney, Judith Whitham and his own 16-year-old bay gelding.
14 combinations came forward to contest the difficult first round track, with five riders jumping clear to go through to the jump off. With four of the five combinations jumping clear in the second round, Adrian and Millfield Baloney produce a foot perfect double clear as they crossed the finish line in 49.66 seconds to take top spot. Robert Murphy jumped into second place almost 3 seconds behind the leader in a time of 52.02, aboard Sandra Low Mitchell’s 10-year-old bay gelding, How Easy. Robert Smith took third place with his own and Ahmad Sabir Hamsho’s Ilton, in a time of 52.67 seconds.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
