Adrian Speight secures the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier win at Bishop Burton College

Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire played host to the last of the hotly contested SEIB Winter Novice Qualifiers of the season and it was Adrian Speight who secured the win after two thrilling rounds of competition.
The class started with thirty-seven combinations all looking to gain one of the two qualification places on offer for this year’s Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex later this summer. The competition heated up as just eleven riders made it through to the jump off and it was left to the all-important clock to decide the winner.
On board Suzanne Walker’s 9 year-old grey gelding, Ringwood Cookie, Adrian took a tight line to claim top spot with a speedy double clear performance. Travelling from Grimsby, South Humberside, this partnership picked up the pace to cross the finish line in 41.81 seconds.
Jumping into second place was William Bayes Jones from Retford, Nottinghamshire riding Arianna, an 8 year-old dark bay mare owned by Laura Wild. This pair delivered their double clear in 41.91 seconds.
