Adrian Speight claims top spot in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre
Monday 19 June 2017

In the sunshine at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre in Claxby, Lincolnshire, Adrian Speight claimed top spot in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round in fine style.
With a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which is to be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August, the focus of each of the thirty-seven starters, a competitive class unfolded. Gaining a much sought after treble clear was the aim of every competitor as this would secure their qualification place.
The challenges of the first two rounds left just eight combinations to go forward to the final jump off and it was Adrian Speight from Grimsby, South Humberside who topped the leader board with his own 11 year-old chestnut gelding, Gorky. This partnership proved their consistency to book their place in the final jump off before delivering a further clear round in an unbeatably fast time of 47.69 seconds.
Katy Bannon from Darlington, County Durham took second place with her own 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Robe Rolex. This combination left all the fences standing to secure a treble clear in 50.79 seconds.
Third place went to Amy Clithero from Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire riding her own 6 year-old grey mare, Soleada VII. This pair delivered their treble clear in 54.87 seconds
With a further two riders also achieving a treble clear, five combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
