2017 Para Jumping Competition at the RDA National Championships

Friday 14th July saw another successful year of collaboration for the Riding for The Disabled Association (RDA) and British Showjumping, giving Para Equestrian riders the chance to compete in the Para Jumping classes at the RDA National Championships at Hartpuy College in Gloucestershire.

The Para Jumping affiliated competition which is integrated within the RDA National Championships brings together competitors from all over England to produce some highly competitive jumping. This year the results from the Showjumping class will result in double points for registered Para riders on the newly established British Showjumping Para League.

The Para Jumpers in attendance, who are all linked with an RDA Group and British Showjumping, competed against other riders of a similar disability over a course designed by Jason Kilbey. The classes ranged from 90cm for those of a Grade III, 80cm’s for Grade II riders and 70cm for the Grade I & IV riders (junior riders are able to compete at 10cm below each eligible graded height).

This year saw a phenomenal number of entries for each Grade and also saw the inclusion of a number of junior riders, which made for enthusing viewing for both competitors and spectators alike. The success of this eventful competition caused for a great deal of interest among the audience, strengthened with the presence of a British Showjumping  information stand offering advice and guidance on available opportunities for disabled riders.

British Showjumping would like to say congratulations to all the Para riders involved in this year’s Para Jumping competition including the winners:

Grade I winner – Karen Bostock riding Rossini IV
