5 Star Award Training

Whether you’re new to showjumping or have been competing for years, the Horse or Pony British Showjumping  Five Star Award Programme, sponsored by NAF, offers the perfect platform to support your development and give recognition to your efforts.

"All the training systems helps me; especially when training young horses; it makes me think more about my showjumping techniques."

The NAF British Showjumping  Five Star Award programme delivers comprehensive training and a positive structure. With a series of progressive standards, the 5 star award programme provides clear goals and competencies for all levels and abilities to strive for.

Whether you’re new to the sport and want to know more about it, or an experienced amateur rider or full-time professional, each level of award requires you to set out your personal goals and achieve the ridden skills. This encourages good basic riding standards and knowledge of horse care, rules and equitation.

The awards are progressive so it’s important not to miss out on the foundations. This is why riders are asked to complete the written questions in all awards below the level they are taking.  This outlines the standards you need to meet at each level and will help to identify your goals.

Signing up for the 5* training program is straight forward and simple: For ponies click here or for horses click here. Alternatively call the Sport Team on 0247669 8800 or email sportteam@britishshowjumping.co.uk and one of our team will ensure your personal booklet is sent to you. You will then need to contact one of our Coaches or attend training within the academies to arrange for your awards to be signed off.

Take your log book to each training session and your coach can sign-off the relevant criteria that you achieve, monitor your progress and discuss the key areas for long term all-round development. Your log book will act as a record of your own personal journey and turn into a wonderful reference of the growing skills and confidence of you and your horse.

They will need to see you demonstrate the criteria, question your understanding of the criteria and you wil need to complete the answers to the questions for the star level which you are taking. You will receieve a certificate and badge as you pass each level, as well as NAF products and merchandise.
