WHITAKER AND STOCKDALE TAKE TO THE KITCHEN FOR THE GREAT ROYAL WINDSOR BAKE-OFF

With Royal Windsor Horse Show fast approaching, from 1 – 5 May, Show Ambassadors Jack Whitaker and Joseph Stockdale were tasked to a unique challenge with the Show’s appointed caterers, Mosimann’s. The two show jumpers swapped their show jackets for aprons as they took on the Great Royal Windsor Bake-Off.

Located in the heart of Belgravia, Mosimann's Club is one of the most prestigious private dining clubs in the world. Founded by Anton Mosimann (OBE), and now run by sons Philipp and Mark Mosimann, Mosimann's has been a family-run business for over 35 years and holder of the Royal Warrant by Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales for Catering Services since 2000. Moismann’s, who have been involved in the Show for three years as the official hospitality caterers, will this year be supplying an afternoon tea for the Royal Box, Lugano Orangery and the Members Enclosure.

Whitaker and Stockdale, two of Great Britain’s most exciting up-and-coming show jumpers, took to the kitchen with the hopes of being crowned Windsor Horse Show Tea ‘Star Baker’, guided by none other than the son of the club’s founder, Mark Mosimann. Mark, whose experience in the hospitality and culinary world is almost unmatched, joined the family business in 2007 having gained experience across the world at some of the finest hotels and restaurants. The Bake-Off was also hosted by Francesa Hull, best known for her time on Made in Chelsea.

The day began with Whitaker and Stockdale donning their official Royal Windsor Horse Show chefs whites. With the riders looking every inch the part, they were guided to the kitchen by Mark, who then introduced them to the key components of the Show’s luxury afternoon tea. The Show’s ambassadors were then tasked by Mark to make two elements of the tea, including scones and finger sandwiches. With the challenge set and the clock counting down, the boys put their culinary skills to the ultimate test, with some very entertaining results – including a mishap with the baking soda.

Their final bakes were then judged in a blind taste test by Mark Mosimann. Served on a tea service from the Chelsea Porcelain range of English fine bone china available from the Royal Collection Trust Shop – a set inspired by the original 18th-century Chelsea Porcelain that was collected by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and now part of the Royal Collection. Mark was highly impressed with both of the rider’s efforts, awarding Stockdale the prize for the best scones and Whitaker the champion of sandwiches.

Speaking on her experience of the day, Hull stated: “I have been attending Royal Windsor Horse Show since I was child, and so to be involved with the Bake-Off challenge was such a fun experience and it was great to watch Jack and Joe try out their baking skills in the wonderful Mosimann’s kitchen, under the watchful eye of Mark. I am very much looking forward to attending the Show in May and tasting the wonderful afternoon tea whilst watching all of the incredible action.”
