Timothy Davies takes the win in the International Stairway at the Devon County Show
Monday 05 July 2021
The fourth leg of the International Stairway Series 2021 was held at the Devon County Show on Saturday, and it was Timothy Davies from Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk who clinched the win on Nielson, an 8 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Lisa Volk.
Over a technical track designed by Matthew Hoskins, a clear round was hard to come by. Just three of the top five combinations took a clear round through to the jump off, where Timothy and Nielson went on to become the only combination to deliver a double clear as they crossed the finish line in 52.76 seconds to take first place. Harriet Biddick jumped in to second place riding Night of Glory Ol owned by HRH Sultan Saud and Mark Edwards finished in third with a just four faults with Martyn Edwards Montreuxs Tale.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
