Thrills and Talent on Show at the Penultimate International Stairway of 2025 at the Royal Norfolk Show

The penultimate International Stairway class of the 2025 series took place this week at the Royal Norfolk Show and it was Ella Dalton who was on to form to take the win with Michelle Burnett’s Hurricane VDL.
Ten combinations came forward to tackle the 1.50m course, with the top five advancing to what was set to be a hotly contested jump-off. Just 24 hours after winning the Area Trial with the only double clear, Ella and the 13-year-old gelding used their penultimate draw to maximum advantage and flew around the course to claim the top-billed International Stairway as the only combination to jump double clear once again.
Despite having the fastest jump-off time, Helen Tredwell and her own Luikan had to settle for second place. Chloe Winchester, who jumped clear in round one but just tapped out a pole in the jump-off, to come home in third place with her own Casacenta Petra Ps. Carron Nicol’s slotted into fourth with her own and Sanda Nicol’s RRH Out Of The Blue whilst Abigail Walters picked up fifth with her own Jack Daniels Reuvekamps.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue league points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where, not only is the National Champion crowned, but three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are up for grabs.
