Tara Byrtt and Valerie B take the National 1.15m Members Cup Championship Final

A total of 22 riders battled the elements in a nail biting jump off in the Porsche Centre Solihull Championship Arena 2 to secure the National 1.15m Members Cup. Despite a tough time set by Lucinda Stewart riding Cancun II, it proved to be no match for Tara Byrtt, who put in an impressively swift round on Lisa Byrtt’s Valerie B and stopped the clock on 34.51 seconds. This adds another result to Tara’s achievements in this class, having taken third place last year and Champion in 2016.

“The competition was very strong and that jump-off was very quick today. Valerie is 16 years old but she loves her job just as much now as she did when she was a youngster. Every time she goes into the ring she tries her hardest; she gives it her all every single round and that is what she gave me today,” smiled a very proud Tara. “I love coming to BSNC, the arenas are amazing and there is a good atmosphere. You always get good competition at the Nationals as Stoneleigh is a very central location and the showjumping courses are always really well built. As a result everyone comes to compete here, which makes it interesting and you get to compete against different people.”

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Tara concluded: “Valerie will have a break now as she has had a busy summer. She will have a few weeks off and an easy winter and then we will come back next year for the silver league.”
