South View Home Pony International

The English Home Pony International (HPI) took place at South View Equestrian Centre in Cheshire last weekend. Teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland travelled to South View to compete against each other for the 128cm, 138cm and 148cm HPI titles.

Ireland had a good show and took both 128cm and 138cm HPI titles. The 128cm team had three of the four members jumping foot perfect double clears leaving the team on a score of 0 to win. The team consisted of Jessica Kuehnle riding Whinny Lass, Fionn Clarke riding Alloy, Ann-Marie Dunne riding Snapwater Jack and Susan Fitzpatrick riding The Silver Legend.

The 138cm team also rose to victory, leading after the first round with a score of 4 the first three riders in the second round all jumped clear. This meant the fourth member did not need to jump for them to take the title. The 138cm team consisted of Tim Macdonagh riding Strawberry Top, Lucy Allen riding Lough Gill, Grace Allen riding Scarletts Billy The Kid and Shane Dalton riding Woodfield Future Star.

The 148cm title went to the Scottish team of Jordan Young riding Calvadon, Chloe Slater riding Cappagh Coach, Rebecca Henderson riding Clover Hill Minsky and Charlotte Geddes riding Sheridens Archangel. The only team to complete the first round on a score of 0 they were in a strong position going into the second round, managing to finish on a score of 4 they took the 148cm title.

The last of the team competitions was the Debut. This was won by English team who consisted of Alfie Bradstock riding Dirty Gerty, Harriet King riding Gerran Tire, Fern Pickard riding Romany Jane and Lauren Edwards riding Chivaz. With Fern and Lauren producing double clears England shot into the lead with a score no-one could get close to.
