SEIB Winter Novice Championship Qualifier at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre

The third qualifier for the SEIB Winter Novice Championship 2015 took place yesterday at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire and as ever with this popular series, the class proved to be popular with a total of sixty-four combinations starting out over the course.

With just two qualifying places available for the Championship, which will be held at the Longines Royal International Horse Show during 28th July – 2nd August 2015, each competitor was riding with the aim of delivering a double clear as they knew that would put them in with a chance of securing a coveted qualification spot.

After a solid first round of competition, the jump off proved to be competitive with twenty-one combinations making it through. Only four double clears were produced in total.

The fastest double clear of the class was delivered by 20 year-old Rosanna Parker from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire on board her own 8 year-old bay mare Cinault. Drawn as the penultimate combination to go in the jump off, they produced another foot perfect round crossing the finish line in 41.54 seconds ensuring the win was theirs.

Leesa Long, aged 46 from Brighton, East Sussex, took second place on Wirania a 12 year-old bay mare owned by Matthew Pike. This combination put in two accurate rounds which saw them secure their double clear in 43.48 seconds and their place in the line-up and championship.
