Sampson’s Spanish Strength

Monday 25 March 2013

22 year-old Matthew Sampson from Sheffield, South Yorkshire showed his strength again this weekend by winning the 1.60m Sunshine Tour Grand Prix being held in Vejer De La Frontera (Spain). Matthew partnering the 11 year-old bay gelding Kavanagh IV owned by John and Marian Renwick won the Grand Prix for the second time in two weeks.

In a class with sixty entries, only twelve made it into the jump off, where eight jumped double clear. Putting in a performance that couldn’t be matched, Matthew took the top spot by jumping double clear in a time almost two seconds faster than  France’s Julien Epaillard and Cristallo A. The third spot was also taken by France’s Reynald Angot riding Palawane de Sully in a time of 38.25.
