Peter Charles from Alton, Hampshire took first place in the International Stairway, held at the South Of England Show Ground. Bob Ellis built a fantastic course, which tested both the horse and riders ability. Only four riders out of thirty three managed to jump two faultless rounds.
Peter riding the twelve year old black stallion Pall Mall H, jointly owned by Sandra Cordiner and Team Murka, jumped double clear in a jump off time of 47.92 seconds, awarding him twelve points on the International Stairway ranking list. Peter also took third place on the eleven year old bay gelding, Rubert R jointly owned by Olga White, Team Murka and Mikhail Muratov. Peter jumped double clear in a jump off time of 53.36 seconds. Second place went to Geoff Luckett from Banbury, Oxfordshire. Geoff riding Old Lodges twelve year old bay gelding, Brickfield Boy jumped double clear in a jump off time of 48.42 seconds.

The International Stairway series is aimed at identifying and assessing both potential and existing British Team competitors, taking in eight of the largest County Shows in the country. Funded jointly by the BSJA Business Partnership and the County Show venues hosting the classes, the series has a purse of £60,000 prize fund. In addition to the prize fund available there is also the bonus of £45,000 worth of Rider Ranking Points to the eight highest placed competitors on the overall league table that sits behind the series.
