Bicton Arena in Salterton, Devon saw seventy-four riders come forward to compete in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round and it was Nicole Pavitt who delivered the winning performance.
With only two qualification spots on offer for the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Championship Final, which will be held during this October’s Horse of the Year Show, each rider was focused on claiming a treble clear.
The first two rounds saw competitors whittled down until just fifteen talented combinations were left to go head to head against the clock in the final jump off.
Jumping with consistency and speed, Nicole from Crawley, West Sussex delivered the winning round on board Matthew Pike’s 7 year-old black stallion, SES Goldstar. This pair wiped 0.34 of a second off the time to cross the finish line in just 37.09 seconds.
The riders and horses that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
