Natalie Hayward Tops the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Allens Hill

Natalie Hayward jumped straight into first place on board her own Laddet in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice at Allens Hill in Pershore, Worcestershire on Saturday. Following this win, Natalie has gained a qualification place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships in a couple of weeks’ time.

A fierce battle began as the forty-five starters all wanted to ride away victorious. Two strong rounds whittled the competitor numbers down until just seventeen hardy pairs were left to fight it out against the clock.

Natalie from Pontypridd, South Wales bid her time by producing two consistent rounds before putting the pressure on the rest of the competition when she produced an accurate and blistering round in the final jump off. Riding her own 7 year-old grey mare, Laddet, Natalie broke the 40 seconds barrier by crossing the finish line in 38.01 seconds.

Unable to get close to the time set by Natalie, Amber Owen from Chippenham, Wiltshire slipped into second place when she left all the fences standing on board her own 6 year-old grey roan mare, Spot the Quality. This pair posted a treble clear in 42.19 seconds.

Third place was snapped up by Jess Wyatt from Bishop Sutton, Bristol and she was on board Alison Wyatt’s 12 year-old grey mare, Gloriagrey. This pair put in a great performance to secure a treble clear in 44.54 seconds.

With only another eight combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of eleven combinations now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
