Madison Seedhouse lands a win at Bishop Burton as we report on the HOYS qualifiers for the week

Madison Seedhouse commanded victory in the Pony Showjumper of the Year with Vaughann De Vuzit at Bishop Burton’s popular Pony Premier show in Yorkshire.

Five of the original 31 starters posted initial clears over course-designer Neil Foster’s 11-fence 1.35m track but only one clear could be found second time out.  Madison, who had shown early form with victory in the preceding 1.20m warm-up, again left every fence intact to take the win on the Dexter Leam Pondi 14-year-old Vaughann.

Michael McColm netted the second HOYS qualifying place on Tobar King with Ella Spencer and Gilton Des Islots in third and Florence Marriott clinched the fourth spot aboard WKD GI Joe – all on four faults.

Hollie Gerken and Christina Cotton battled for supremacy in the HOYS 138cm Second Round over 10 fences at 1.15m, claiming the top four places between them.

The 48 starters were initially reduced to 17 with a final eight contending the third round against the clock, Hollie emerging triumphant with 3.41 seconds to spare on the already-qualified Sligo De Mormal.  Christina claimed second and third aboard Mayfly Black Pennell and Harefield Diego with Hollie slotting It’s Bill into fourth.  Phoebe Crossman on Acajou De Caux and Connie Mensley’s Never Last II also posted treble clears for fifth and sixth.

Zachary Bradshaw provided the sole treble clear to win the HOYS 128cm Second Round on 16-year-old Carrowvilla Izzy.

Only three of the original 30 competitors accessed the final jump-off, a cool-headed Zachary supplying the only treble clear of the class to claim the win.  Agnes Kerr came home on five faults to take second with Dunbarover IV with Lucia Caroline slotting Mynyddmorfa Susanna into third whilst also claiming fourth place as the fastest four-faulter in round two on Desdemone De Marquais. Qualifying places went down the line as Ella Kay steered Toplines Royal Wonder into fifth, Christina Cotton finished sixth on Tullibards Highly Unlikely and Agnes also slipped Taggarts Express into seventh.

Only two of the 34 Pony Foxhunter Second Round competitors found the key to the 11-fence 1.20m course to return clear rounds and opted to share the honours – Amy Cass on Miss Texas, also a Blue Chip Pony Newcomers finalist, and Emily Coxon with Kilnacappagh Harry taking equal first.

As reported earlier, Daisy Day landed the top spot in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round on the 138cxm Another Milton.

Emma-Jo Slater is off to Horse of the Year Show to contend the Newcomers Final after securing victory in the second round at Pyecombe Horse Show, Sussex, with Kim Barzilay’s You Two Touchdown.

A total of 72 competitors came forward over course-designer Mark McGowan’s 12-fence track with a starting height of 1.25m and 20 found the key to return for round two.  Six were lost on the way to round three with 14 contending the third and final round against the clock.

Emma-Jo executed inside turns and angled fences with a tight turn into the final vertical to secure the top spot by a comfortable 3.50 seconds on the Warrenstown You 2 x Touchdown 7-year-old.

Just two treble clears were realised with Megan James claiming second and the final HOYS qualifying place on Kevin Sleap’s home-bred 7-year-old Balouish – by the Baloubet Du Rouet stallion son Balou Mena Gii and out of an Indoctro mare.
