LGCT London to debut at Royal Hospital Chelsea: Stunning graphic revealed

Longines Global Champions Tour, the world’s premier show jumping circuit and a favourite amongst celebrity equestrian enthusiasts, is coming to London next month for the first time in two years. From 4-6 August, the world’s top horses and riders will gather at Royal Hospital Chelsea - home to the Chelsea Pensioners and the annual Chelsea Flower Show - to compete for a million pound prize fund and the chance to move up the rankings to take the championship crown at the end of the 15 stage tour.

Dubbed as the 'Formula 1' of equestrian sport, the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League team competition has already enthralled spectators in Miami Beach, Shanghai, Monaco and Paris. Olympians Scott Brash, Ludger Beerbaum, Harrie Smolders and Ben Maher take on other competitors including Jessica Springsteen, Jennifer Gates and Georgina Bloomberg over technical courses of fences up to 1.60m with nail-biting jump-offs for pole position.

London 2012 Olympic gold medallist and British competitor Scott Brash said: "The Longines Global Champions Tours is a unique and truly global event that has done so much for the profile of our sport. British show jumping is enjoying a renaissance through the success of Team GB, which culminated in Nick Skelton's emotional win at Rio 2016. I am excited that London has been added to the 2017 series, as it provides a new opportunity to excite British audiences about show jumping and inspire new generations. To have your home crowd behind you really spurs you on more. I love it, so I’m delighted it’s back in London. It's going to be a very special event and I can't wait to compete."

The London event will take place on the South Grounds, which lead down to the River Thames and offer an iconic backdrop of Sir Christopher Wren's iconic architecture. Founded by King Charles II over 300 years ago, Royal Hospital Chelsea has provided care and comradeship for veterans known the world over as the Chelsea Pensioners. As well as the excitement of watching the best riders in the world battle it out in the show ring, visitors can enjoy the shopping village with its multitude of food and drinks stalls and activities for all the family including the Kids’ Club.

Limited covered grand stand seats are still available priced at either £20 (Friday) or £40 (Saturday) and £20 Sunday. There is also a £5 ticket for access to shopping, kids club and an array of delicious food stalls within the event village. The main event on the Friday, the CS15* Global Champions League Round 1 kicks off at 16:30 with the GCL final taking place on Saturday at 14:15 before the much anticipated CS15* Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London Presented by Sapinda at 17:45.

Following the London event, horses and riders will move on to Valkenswaard in The Netherlands and then to Rome before the series climax in Doha where the winning team and overall individual champion will be crowned.
