LADY RIDERS ENJOY EUROPEAN SUCCESS
Monday 02 March 2009
Great Britain’s lady riders have enjoyed European success this weekend, winning over 20,000€ in international competitions in Germany and Portugal.
Twenty-two year-old Ellen Whitaker from Barnsley, South Yorkshire drove away a brand new Mitsubishi car from the Bremen Euroclassics Festival over the weekend.
Jumping a double clear round to take second place in yesterday’s Grand Prix with the thirteen year-old gelding Ocolado, a horse owned jointly by Dawn Makin and Ellen’s father Steven, coupled with a single fence down in Saturday’s Team Trophy, gave Ellen cumulative points to secure third place in the overall Championship, behind Germany’s Marcus Ehning and Sweden’s Rolf-Goran Bengtsson. The top four riders all took home a brand new Mitsubishi car.
