Kingswood Arena Equissage Discovery Second Round
Monday 13 June 2011

Kingswood Arena in Wolverhampton held an Equissage Discovery second round this weekend. Sixty six combinations started in the first round which saw three qualification tickets for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival up for grabs.
Course Builder Susan Barratt built a fair course that saw thirty combinations jump the first round clear and a further twelve jumping clear again making it into the final jump off.
Preston based Nigel Coupe was drawn early to go in the jump off with his first of two rides, his own six year old bay mare Day Dream IV. Jumping a quick clear in a time of 42.29 seconds Nigel held onto the lead until he entered the arena on his second ride. This time riding Lucy May’s seven year old chestnut gelding Nigel shaved a further 0.34 seconds off his previous time.
Following Nigel into the arena was Emma Sargeant from Stafford, riding her own five year old bay mare Luidams Girl. Emma knew she had to pull out all the stops to get the win and watching Nigel’s round played to her advantage when she managed to come home 1.70 seconds ahead of Nigel to do just that.
The above three combinations all qualify for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival 2011 which will take place from Sunday 28th August to Saturday 3rd September at Stafford County Showground.
