Katie Shaw Wins Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds kicked off at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire on Sunday and twenty-nine horses and riders jumped with the aim of taking home one of the twelve qualifying places up for grabs for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November.

The 2015 1.10m National Amateur Champions, Katie Shaw and Fools Business, got their title defence off to great start when they scooped up the win in this second round. Katie, who is from Stafford, produced a great jump off round on board the 15 year-old roan gelding Fools Business owned by Emma Sargeant and the pair blasted through the finish with a double clear in 34.45 seconds. This time gave them nearly four seconds in hand over second place.

Rachel Horton from Malmesbury, Wiltshire grabbed both second and third place on her own Quidelle Du Reverdy and Accobado respectively. Rachel set a great standard for the jump off after being drawn first to go on the 12 year-old grey mare Quidelle Du Reverdy. The combination secured a double clear in 38.01 seconds, a result that was only beaten by one other.

Rachel then delivered another double clear in 39.58 seconds and in doing so picked up third place on the 14 year-old bay gelding Accobado.
