Jake Saywell takes the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier at Bramham Horse Trials

Bramham Horse Trials saw showjumpers take to the ring over the weekend, as they hosted a British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Grade C Qualifier. This marked the second British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Grade C qualifier in as many days, attracting a strong field of competitors.

A total of 45 riders took part in the class, where the initial round saw 13 riders achieve the clear necessary to earn them a place in the jump-off, of which four managed to maintain their clean sheet and end on a double clear.

Jake Saywell emerged victorious aboard his own Kilkenny VDL, completing the course in a time of 43.60 seconds. Jake commented: “We’ve had him since he was two. He’s always been a little bit behind, but we’ve taken it slowly with him. He’s a lovely horse to have on the yard, everyone can ride him. He might be a bit behind, but they catch up in the end!”

Will Edwards, riding Carrickview Apollo, secured second place with an impressive performance, finishing just behind Jake Saywell with a time of 45.03 seconds. Third place was claimed by Katie Pytches on Ballypatrick Zambra.

The weekend results see all top three combinations join the list of qualified riders for the Horse of the Year Show. Visit https://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk/shows_qualifying_dates_venues.cfm?type=S&class=HOYCF to see all those who have qualified to date.
