Ingliston Equestrian Centre hosts Horse & Hound Foxhunter second round

Ingliston Equestrian Centre in Renfrewshire, Scotland hosted a four day show over the weekend which included a Horse and Hound Foxhunter Second Round. The twenty nine starters were all fighting it out for the two Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualification tickets that were up for grabs along with five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification tickets.
 
Seventeen combinations made it into the first jump off which saw only twelve jump clear again and go forward to the final jump off.
 
It was Northallerton based Paul Barker that came out on top riding his mothers (Lynn) seven year old grey gelding Zandigo V. Jumping three clears round the testing track Paul came home with a jump off time of 35.56 seconds to take the first HOYS tickets. Taking the other HOYS qualification and second place was Kirkcudbrightshire based James Smith. Nineteen year old James was partnering Candice Thorpe’s ten year old bay gelding Gibside Smokey Joe who jumped a careful clear in the final jump off in a time of 36.29 seconds.
 
Also jumping three clears but just missing out on second place and the HOYS qualification was Peeblesshire based Scott Brash. Riding Kelly Oakley’s seven year old bay gelding Zippo Scott came home in 36.32 seconds.
 
Fourth place went to Robert Maguire from Lancashire riding Michelle Rothwell’s seven year old bay gelding Beckham IV. This combination again jumped round clear but in a time of 37.45 seconds left them in fourth position.
 
Claiming the final Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification was Johnstone based Martin Arnott who rode the ten year old dark bay stallion Ultime Espoir owned by Gavin Russell. Martin jumped round clear in 37.72 seconds.

NB; Qualifications correct at time of writing pending any outstanding results.
 
Horse of the Year Show 2011 is the 4th – 9th October at Birmingham’s NEC.
The Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival 2011 will take place from Sunday 28th August to Saturday 3rd September at Stafford County Showground.
