GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR KICKS OFF IN AREZZO

The Global Champions Tour (GCT) showcases the world's top riders competing in exotic locations at the highest level of the sport for record prize money.

Founded by President and Olympic Gold medallist Jan Tops in 2006 the GCT could not have been realised without the support of presenting sponsor CN and CN WorldWide. The official timepiece of the championship is Rolex and media partner Eurosport ensures each GCT grand prix is televised live or relayed live.

The Global Champions Tour ensures top sport by inviting the top 30 riders in the world to compete with their best horses at Olympic level (1.60m). The locations are selected to ensure the best conditions are enjoyed by all - the riders, horses, sponsors, horse owners and most importantly the spectators and fans.

This weekend sees the start of the 2009 Global Champions Tour, kicking off in Arezzo in Italy. Set in the heart of the Tuscan landscape, the Arezzo Equestrian Centre has become world renowned in the past ten years as a desirable destination for international show jumping. This year the GCT moves from the usual September date to April, becoming part of the seven-week Toscana Tour.

Five British riders will compete in Arezzo this weekend; Ben Maher, John, Michael and Robert Whitaker and Guy Williams. You can follow all the action from Arezzo at www.globalchampionstour.com.
