EXCEPTIONAL LOTS ADDED TO EQUESTRIAN RELIEF AUCTION AS TEAM EVENTING CHARGE TO TOP OF LEADERBOARD

Equestrian Relief is off to a flying start and is overwhelmed by the generosity and support being shown for the UK’s NHS Heroes. Last night Team Eventing were victorious in the first of the five challenges - ‘On The Gallops’: the 5km run. Unsurprisingly there were two stand out performances from Eventing World Champion Ros Canter finishing at the top of the podium in Gold Medal position, and from racing Legend Sir AP McCoy, who both posted sub twenty minute times.  Bronze medal position was taken by Polo star Jack Richardson. Click here to watch how they got on.

All teams have excelled themselves showing that they are willing to stop at nothing to achieve their goal. Tonight we see the athletes, including Zara Tindall, Scott Brash and Frankie Dettori, go head to head in ‘Plankety-Plank’ - the planking challenge. Join us at 7pm where our daily highlights will be broadcast across all the Liverpool International Horse Show channels and all details can be found at www.equestrianrelief.com

Equestrian Relief is excited to announce a truly exceptional lot to our online charity auction in the form of a Sir Peter O’Sullevan original annotated 1990 Grand National racecard - a real Museum piece and precious item of racing memorabilia featuring Mr Frisk’s record breaking Grand National run. Sir Peter O'Sullevan was the BBC's racing commentator for fifty years and became known as "the voice of racing". His last, and fiftieth, Grand National race was in 1997. Mr. Frisk won the race in 1990 in a time of eight minutes and 47.80 seconds, breaking Red Rum's 1973 record by 14.10 seconds. This record still stands, even though the race has been 342 yds shorter since 2013.

Other special auction lots added include; seven nights in a luxury beach front apartment on the west coast of Barbados kindly donated by Karen Whittaker; The watch won by Olympic Gold Medallist Scott Brash MBE and Hello Mr President in the Global Champions Tour at the spectacular Royal Hospital Chelsea; A round of Golf with Sir AP McCoy and Oli Bell at Sunningdale, signed football boots from Michael Owen, striker for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United, and an 18 month 2.5% share with Middleham Park Racing, in a 2 year old colt by No Nay Never in training with Tom Dascombe.

Said Nina Barbour, Bolesworth Managing Director:  “We are delighted and overwhelmed by the support we have received to date from across the Equestrian World.  We will be pushing hard over the weekend to maximise our contribution just as the Covid-19 Crisis really enters into the most challenging phase we have seen to date in the UK. As has become the tradition the whole team here at Equestrian Relief will be ready to clap at 8pm this evening to cheer on our NHS Heroes.

“We are also proud to be partnering with the team behind the Royal Windsor Horse Show who have launched ‘Virtual Windsor’ - a free to take part in online showing competition where competitors can submit their favourite showing images for judging.”

Tim Palin from Middleham Park Racing said “I’m thrilled that three days into the auction our lot has already received twenty three bids. With another new Nightingale Hospital opening in Birmingham and more planned its essential that we keep raising funds to support our NHS.”

The teams of Athletes will be going head to head each evening over the Easter weekend, climaxing with the ‘Dark Horse’ Hidden Talent Contest on Sunday evening, with the Final Presentation online on Monday night.
