EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Rounds Get Underway at Bishop Burton College

The 2014 EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Rounds kicked off this weekend at Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The second round was held on Sunday 4th May 2014 and it proved to be popular, with forty-eight qualified combinations competing.

All of the starting combinations were aiming to produce a treble clear as required to qualify for the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.

After first having to produce two clear rounds, fourteen combinations made it through to the final jump off and of these combinations, five then went on to produce the crucial third clear.

It was 28 year-old Nicky Sutcliffe from Stillington, North Yorkshire who took the winner’s spot on Anne Lumley’s 7 year-old grey gelding, Cornelius III. Drawn seventh to go in the final jump off, the combination produced their immaculate treble clear in a time of 38.32 seconds to clinch victory.

Commenting on her result, Nicky said “I am so elated with this win. Cornelius is an absolute pleasure to ride and I would like to thank his owner Anne for this amazing opportunity.”

In second place was 18 year-old Holly Hodgson from Whitby, North Yorkshire riding her mother Alison’s 11 year-old bay gelding, Wapper T. This combination produced their treble clear in a time of 42.22 seconds.

Third place was taken by 32 year-old Clare Shepherd from Middleton, Manchester and she was on board her own 5 year-old bay gelding Elvis II. Their treble clear was achieved in 43.02 seconds.

With another two combinations also going on to produce a treble clear, a total of five combinations will now go forward to the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final.
