Emma-Jo Slater speeds to victory in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Parwood Equestrian Centre

There was no doubt of Emma-Jo Slater’s intentions in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Parwood Equestrian Centre, Guildford, Surrey, as she powered Kimba Je T’Aime to victory.
The original 59 starters facing the 1.05m track were initially reduced to 33 for round two with an eventual 21 battling it out against the clock in the third and final round. Emma-Jo set off at optimum pace determined for the win and remained ahead despite several challenges, winning by 1.97 seconds.
“She flew round, this mare’s very careful, cute and an over-achiever,” said owner/breeder Kim Barzilay, on the Je T’Aime Flamenco x Heartbreaker 6-year-old who is full sister to Kimba Flamenco, Billy Twomey’s former five-star ride.
“She was in the final last year but had four faults, she should be a good candidate for this year. She’s like her brother ‘Codi’ [Kimba Flamenco] but he’s 17.1hh and she’s 15.3hh and because we can’t have his babies, she’s the next best thing and we intend to breed from her.
“The plan is to jump her until October if she’s in foal and then she’ll have some time off and come back more mature,” added Kim, who is considering Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve as the potential sire.
