Emma Crawford & Alexander Mclean Scoop Charles Stanley Winter JA Classic Wins at Morris Equestrian Centre

The Charles Stanley Winter JA Classic Qualifiers at Morris Equestrian Centre in Ayrshire were won by home riders Emma Crawford and Alexander Mclean who took a victory apiece after producing immaculate clear rounds on board their respective rides.  

Each and every rider contesting the qualifiers was focused on securing a sought after qualification spot for the prestigious Charles Stanley Winter JA Classic Championship, which will be held during the Charles Stanley British Masters International Horse Show (1st - 3rd July 2016).

Charles Stanley Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Saturday 13th February 2016

Fifteen year-old Emma Crawford from Cupar, Fife headed Saturday’s qualifier after producing the only treble clear of the class. Emma rode with accuracy and pace over Mark McGowan’s course and was one of only three competitors who contested the final jump off. 

Emma secured the top spot on board Lynn Crawford’s 13 year-old grey gelding Stars Surprise and they delivered their treble clear in 39.32 seconds. 

Second place was taken by 14 year-old Sophie Bowen Howard from Preston, Lancashire. Sophie rode Dafina K, a 16 year-old chestnut mare owned by Downes Howard and they finished on a total of 4 faults in 42.73 seconds after rolling an unfortunate pole around the midway point of the jump off.

Nicole Lockhead Anderson, aged 13, from Banchory, Aberdeenshire took third place with Cappagh Supreme, a 20 year-old dun gelding owned Claire Lockhead. This combination finished with 18 faults in 54.77 seconds.

1st Emma Crawford & Stars Surprise – 0/0/0 – 39.32 seconds
2nd Sophie Bowen Howard & Dafina K – 0/0/4 – 42.73 seconds
3rd Nicole Lockhead Anderson & Cappagh Supreme – 0/0/18 – 54.77 seconds

Charles Stanley Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Sunday 14th February 2016

Alexander Mclean, aged 13, from Lasswade, Midlothian won this qualifier on board Red Flamenco, a 14 year-old liver chestnut mare owned by Marjory Mcnaughton. Alexander and Red Flamenco were the only combination able to deliver a clear in the first round of the class and they did so in 65.34 seconds.

Drew Walton, aged 15, from Preston, Lancashire secured second place on Tequila Twist, a 14 year-old grey mare owned by Kerri Walton. Drew and Tequila Twist picked up 4 faults in round one, but their time of 70.34 seconds ensured that they had done enough for a top two placing.

Third spot was taken by 15 year-old Madison Jamison from Blackburn, Lancashire. Madison rode Nicola Jamison’s 12 year-old bay gelding and she took a podium place after finishing on 4 faults in 72.34 seconds.

1st Alexander Mclean & Red Flamenco – 0 – 65.34 seconds
2nd Drew Walton & Tequila Twist – 4 – 70.34 seconds
3rd Madison Jamison & Eclips VI – 4 – 72.34 seconds

The next two Charles Stanley JA Classic Qualifiers will be held at Arena UK in Lincolnshire on the 27th & 28th February 2016. The remaining qualifier dates are as follows:
