ELLEN WHITAKER WINS THE WINTER A&B GRAND PRIX QUALIFIER

Twenty three year old Ellen Whitaker from Barnsley, South Yorkshire took first place in the Winter A&B Grand Prix qualifier, held at Towerlands Park last weekend, securing her place in the final that will take place in April at the British Open Show Jumping Championships.
Ellen riding Equimax Ocolado, a thirteen year old chestnut gelding jointly owned by Dawn Makin, Steven Whitaker and Equimax, jumped double clear in a jump off time of 34.52 seconds. Second place went to Ellen’s brother Joe Whitaker also from Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Joe riding Shearwater Insurance Ltd and Kathy Tanseys’, eight year old dark bay mare Shearwater Upanda, jumped double clear in a jump off time of 35.77 seconds. Third place went to Andrew Davies from Swansea, West Glamorgan. Andrew riding Gillian Davies’ ten year old grey mare Wonderful Melody Van De Helle, jumped double clear in a jump off time of 38.02 seconds.
