Olympia’s youngest riders had a chance to show their paces on Sunday evening, and star of show in the H & M Mini Stakes was international jumper John Popely’s daughter Ella riding Show Me Again who came off best in a seven-horse jump-off, beating Claudia Rebecca Dinningon Flinor Songbird by 0.22sec.
Last on H & M day was the H & M Ivy Stakes, which provided a win for the stylish Penelope Leprevost on Myss Valette. “Olympia is my favourite show,” declared Penelope, after relegating British riders Geoff Billington and Peter Charles into second and third place in an 11-horse jump-off.
Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer, on fire this week, cemented his commanding lead in the H & M Leading Rider table with a win in the H & H Speed Stakes. He now leads Ellen Whitaker, third in this class on Kanselier, by 13 points. Ireland’s Cian O’Connor is third another eight points in arrears.
