Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Gracelands Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds continued at Gracelands Equestrian Centre in Droitwich, Worcestershire on Saturday 27th September 2014 and a total of fifty-eight combinations came forward to compete across the two second rounds.
Each combination started out with the aim of taking home one of the direct qualifying places on offer in each second round for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Thirty-one competitors came forward to contest this second round and the jump off proved to be competitive after twenty-five combinations produced a first round clear. Sixteen double clears were eventually produced, but with just twelve direct qualifying places available, the clock proved to be absolutely pivotal in deciding the allocation of the qualification places.
Victory in this second round went to 22 year-old Amy Thomson from Cardiff, South Glamorgan partnering her own 15 year-old piebald gelding Super Snoop. The combination produced their double clear early on in the jump off and they did so in a quick time of 32.98 seconds, eventually giving them well over a second in hand over their nearest rivals.
Second place was taken by 36 year-old Katie Blandford from Ledbury, Herefordshire with her own 17 year-old grey mare Moonlight Molly. This combination crossed the finish line in 34.44 seconds to book their spot in the top two and in the Championship Final.
Third place went to 29 year-old Jade Bilboe from Cross Keys, Herefordshire on her own Meacham Elite, a 13 year-old dark bay mare. This combination took their place in the top three after delivering their double clear in 34.48 seconds.
An additional nine riders also secured their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round.
A total of twenty-seven combinations contested this second round and fifteen went on to compete in the jump off. Eight combinations then went on to secure a double clear.
The win in this second round was taken by 44 year-old Victoria Douglas Jones, from Coventry, West Midlands and she took the victory on Miss Demeanour IV an 8 year-old bay mare owned by Charles Daker. Second to go in the jump off they produced their double clear in 31.96 seconds, which result which was to prove unbeatable.
Victoria Fudge, 35, from Stonehouse, Gloucestershire took second place with Special Effects III, a 14 year-old bay gelding owned by David Fudge. This combination produced their double clear in 32.26 seconds.
Third place was taken by 30 year-old Mandy Dexter from Stoney Stanon, Leicestershire and she was riding Good News II, a 10 year-old grey gelding owned by Stephanie Brewster. This combination secured their place in the top three with a double clear in 32.90 seconds.
A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Final.
