Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre

Twenty-one combinations came forward to contest the Dodson and Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round that was held on Sunday 5th October at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre in Westershield Hill, Falkirk.

Each starter was aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

From all of the starting combinations, eight produced the first round clear required for a place in the jump off. The jump off was hotly contested as seven of these combinations went on to produce a double clear to battle for a place in the top order.

The win in this second round was taken by 34 year-old Caroline Paxton from Edinburgh with her own 8 year-old bay gelding Antonio VP Wisbecq. The combination was drawn first to go in the jump off and their accuracy and pace was such that their double clear in 32.53 seconds could not be beaten.

Kirstie Boyd, aged 20, from Kilbirnie, Ayrshire took second place on her own 8 year-old bay mare Elle Clover. This combination secured their double clear in 32.72 seconds.

Third place was taken by 21 year-old Georgia Mitchell from Johnstone, Renfrewshire and she was on board her own 8 year-old bay gelding Zacarno. They produced their foot perfect double clear in 34.81 seconds.

A further five combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Championship Final.
