Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm, 1.05m and 1.10 National Amateur Second Rounds at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre

Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Harwicke Gloucestershire had a busy day on Saturday 11th October as they held a 0.85cm 1.05m and 1.10m Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round.

Each of the starters were hoping to claim one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round Results

This second round saw twenty-seven combinations come forward to contest it. The jump off saw sixteen combinations compete again and with just the twelve qualification spots available, each competitor was focused on securing a double clear. Nine double clears were eventually produced and this meant that those combinations vying for the last three qualifying spots needed a fast round with a minimum number of faults.

Clare Robinson, aged 24 from Bromsgrove, Worcester was the eventual winner on board her own 16 year-old bay mare, That Was Lucky. The combination was drawn eight to go in the jump off and their double clear in 34.84 seconds ensured that they could not be beaten.

Second place went to 28 year-old Monica Ballard from Sittingbourne, Kent and she took her place in the line-up on her own 16 year-old bay mare My Amazing Grace. This combination produced their double clear in 35.60 seconds.

Third place went to 22 year-old Leonne George from Chippenham, Wiltshire with her own 13 year-old grey mare Uwellie. This combination took their place in the top three after stopping the clock in 36.20 seconds.

A further nine combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round Results

This second round saw thirty-four combinations come forward to contest it. Fourteen combinations then went on to compete in the jump off.  Seven combinations then went on to pick up a double clear with the rest of the qualifying spots going to the fastest combinations with four faults.

Victory in this second round went to 21 year-old Hannah Thorne from Weston-Super-Mare , Avon and she was partnering her own 18 year-old grey gelding, General Maximus. The combination was drawn fourth to go in the jump off and their double clear in quick time of 33.01 seconds proved to be unbeatable.

Second place went to 33 year-old Leonnie Jones from Haywards Heath, West Sussex and she was on Bellatrix III a 7 year-old back mare owned by James Johnson. This combination produced their double clear in 38.16 seconds.

Jancey Wembridge (53) from Taunton, Somerset with her own 19 year-old bay mare Who’s Dilemma took the third spot in the line-up. This combination gained their double clear stopping the clock in 38.89 seconds securing their place in the championship final.

A further nine combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round Results

Twenty-seven combinations came forward to contest this second round.  Eleven combinations then jumped clear in the first round to go through to the jump off. The jump off then saw five secure a double clear, with all of the competitors picking up a qualifying place in the championship final, the clock decided the final line-up.

Victory in this second round was secured by 56 year-old Martin Brake from Yeovil, Somerset with Quenza Des Tuilieres a 10 year-old bay mare owned by Karen Johnson. Drawn first to go in the jump off, they proved to be unbeatable after producing their double clear in 37.16 seconds. 

Second place went to 35 year-old Samantha Smith from Horsham, West Sussex and she was on board her own 16 year-old dark bay mare Afleur. This combination produced their double clear in 37.37 seconds.

Third place went to 16 year-old Tillie Newman from Dorchester, Dorset with her mother Helen’s 14 year-old bay gelding Mr De II. This combination secured their spot in the championship final after producing their double clear in 37.55 seconds.

A further eight combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10 National Amateur Championship Final.
