Daisy Lewis hits top gear in the Nupafeed Supplements Discovery Second Round at The Suffolk Equestrian Centre

Daisy Lewis motored into victory in the Nupafeed Supplements Discovery Second Round at The Suffolk Equestrian Centre with Maserati T.V.
A total of 36 competitors originally tackled the 10-fence 1.05m track built by course-designer Toby Bancroft in the three-round competition, with 25 posting first round clears. Eleven fell by the wayside in round two to leave 14 horse and rider combinations accessing the final decider.
Sevenoaks, Kent-based Daisy chanced an ultra-tight turn into a triple bar on the Carrera VDL x Jolt St Hubert six-year-old gelding to claim a handsome win with 4.54 seconds to spare.
“I rang my Mum [Penny] about the turn but she said I knew Maserati better than anyone else, so we did the turn,” said Daisy, 16. “This win is for Mum. She couldn’t come with us as she had to isolate for 24 hours before going in hospital to have a benign brain tumour removed.”
Maserati was bought by chance.
“I’d been riding horses for a friend and when they went on holiday, I was lucky enough to ride Maserati. They returned a week later and said they were putting him up for sale, but we’d already fallen in love with him,” explained Daisy. “We weren’t looking for a horse as I was only 14 at the time and still on ponies. He was my first horse and our best buy. He’s so loving and as he’d only done one training show, we learnt together and trust each other.”
Chris Moyce guided Seranno 1st into second place and Kelly Attwood claimed third with Birchgrove Grey.
