Chloe Burrage and Gracie Maw Claim Top Spot in this week's STX-UK Pony British Novice Second Round Competition

Another two STX-UK Pony British Novice Second Round took place this weekend and more young riders aimed to secure their qualification to the Final at the British Showjumping National Championships.

Sixteen combinations came forward to the first round at Hascombe Farm, with 8 of these jumping into the next round. Five combinations advanced to the final jump-off as all these combinations jumped another vital clear it would be a race to the finish line to decide the placings.

Victory went the way of Chloe Burrage who was riding Joanna Burrage’s Emlagh Holly. The pair, who only started their British Showjumping journey together at the end of 2024, stormed around the shorted course in a time of 24.88 seconds that could not be caught. Millie Boreham slotted into second place with Stepehn Boreham’s Just Badger, 2.10 seconds behind the winner, with Ella Brown and Zoe Brown’s Cahernacole Jack picking up third place, 0.54 seconds in arrears.

“There was a good group of riders in the class, but she was brilliant,” said an excited Chloe. “I went in hoping for the best and thought that I could do well and it felt amazing when I won. It is my first big qualifier that I won so I’m really looking forward to the final.”

Talking about her ride, who is known as Holly at home, Chloe added: “She’s only seven but she has got such a lovely nature and really just loves her job.”

In the Pony Discovery Second Round, Eva Cook navigated her way to victory with the only triple clear of the class, riding Richard Cook’s Sraghmore Sheeba. Portia Taylor-Wilson, stormed around the course in a quicker time with Rebecca Clay’s Portroyal Rosie but an unfortunate rolled pole saw them take home second place, with Inde Whipple and Helen Diaper’s Lovelyhill Make Believe also picking up four faults and slotting into third place.
