Caretino Vantarsi takes the Crofton Manor Horse & Hound Foxhunter second round

Monday saw another chance for qualified riders to compete in the horse & Hound Foxhunter second round this time held at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Hampshire.

With two Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification tickets up for grabs the fifty one starters only had one aim; to take the win!

There were eight combinations jump double clear making it into the final jump off and drawn first to go was Steven Franks from West Sussex. Riding Old Lodge’s seven year old black gelding Abdul Aziz this combination jumped round clear in a time of 44.12 seconds. This was a good start but ended up in third place just missing out on HOYS qualification.

Second into the arena was to Gloucester based Angie Thompson riding her own seven year old grey roan mare Zomeroos. Also jumping clear but in a quicker time of 43.65 seconds Angie temporally took the lead. However following her into the arena was Essex based Michael Fursedonn riding his own seven year old dark bay mare Caretino Vantarsi which has been selected for the Equine Pathway. Jumping round clear in a quick time of 40.48 seconds proved good enough for Michael to take the win and HOYS qualification leaving Angie in second place.

Fourth place went to Steven Franks on his second ride the chestnut gelding Faize also owned by Old Lodge. Meaning Steven picked up two Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival tickets.

The final qualifier of the class was fifth place Emily Llewellyn from East Sussex. Emily was riding her own nine year old grey gelding Carus Royale.

The 2011 Horse of the Year Show will take place between the 4th and 9th October at Birmingham’s NEC.

The 2011 Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival will take place from Sunday 28th August to Saturday 3rd September at the Stafford County Showground.
