British Showjumping Breeders Acknowledged at the 2014 British Breeders’ Awards Dinner

The Grange City Hotel in London played host to the annual British Breeders’ Awards Dinner on Saturday 11th January during which many Showjumping British Breeders were acknowledged.
The event, which recognises breeders of British Bred horses across all equestrian disciplines, was attended by hundreds of guests and pivotal stakeholders within the British Breeding environment. Celebrating the awards ceremony with a champagne reception and four-course meal, the Grange City Hotel always proves a superb backdrop for the many individuals whom are extremely influential in the production of future British Bred performance horses and this year was no exception.
It was the Billy Stud’s horse Billy Congo which has been produced and competed since a novice by Will Funnell who was awarded the British Equestrian Federation Award for the highest placed British Bred Team GBR horse at the 2013 European Championships. Billy Congo’s performance was instrumental in Team GB securing Team Gold and it was a very fitting accolade for a stud which has bred and produced a number of horses through to Nations Cup and Championship level. The Billy Stud were further recognised in the British Showjumping Young Horse Awards, this time in the 5 year-old category with Billy Yen. The Brendon Stud were acknowledged with the 6 year-old award with their own Sebastians Dream and the 7 year-old award went to Bintang II whom is owned by John and Laura Renwick and bred by Edward Bleekman.
Breeder Sue Jagger was awarded a BEF Certificate of Merit for her ‘Showjumping Foal’ Millfield Pandora as was Sandra Grose for her ‘Showjumping Yearling’ Diamond Jubilee. Also awarded BEF Certificates of Merit were Jonathan Roy Parrott with his ‘Showjumping 2 year-old’ Casanova Can’t Wait and Karen Niklasson with the ‘Showjumping 3 year-old’ Kannanball.
The evening also saw the SEIB Racehorse to Showjumping award given to Isabelle Tomkins with her retrained racehorse Tanktastic, whom was the highest ranked eligible horse on the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) league for 2013.
British Showjumping would like to extend their congratulations to all the breeders and owners recognised at the Awards Dinner. British Breeding has gone from strength to strength and to have a British Bred horse on a Gold medal winning team for the second consecutive year is an accolade to the commitment British Breeders have in their drive to produce top quality performance horses from the initial planning stages through to their production and into the arena..
