BRITISH OWNERS & BREEDERS TOP WORLD BREEDING JUMPING LIST
Wednesday 30 April 2014

British Showjumping would like to extend their congratulations to Lady Kirkham and Lord & Lady Harris for their tremendous achievement in holding the top two positions on the FEI WBFSH (World Ranking List) Jumping Horse List.
With their horses Ursula XII and Hello Sanctos sitting in first and second place respectively they have set a new record by being the first owners to have achieved such a feat.
Ursula XII, who sits in the No.1 position, is a 13 year-old British bred bay mare whom was bred by Mrs Mary Turnbull. Purchased by Lady Kirkham and Lord & Lady Harris in 2011 as a ride for Tina Fletcher initially, Ursula XII later moved to Scott Brash in October 2012. A win in Lyon at a CSI5* show within a few weeks of their partnership saw them continue their success with further wins in Helsinki, Zurich and Hong Kong during the winter season. 2013 saw Ursula and Scott come into their own with successes at the CSI5* shows across Europe in Monte Carlo, Valkenswaard, Wien, Barcelona and Verona along with a win on home soil at the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead. This year saw an early win at the Wellington Equestrian Festival in Florida along with a win in Paris before their tremendous performances in the World Cup Final in Lyon where they finished in overall 3rd position.
Hello Sanctos, a 12 year-old Belgian bred bay gelding, was purchased in December 2011 with the London 2012 Olympic Games in mind for Scott Brash. Embraced by the national press at the outset of their pairing, their partnership and aspirations were played out under a glare of media interest in the lead up to London 2012. Posting an early win in Florida, the path was set that led them to Olympic Team selection where the combination went on to win a Team Gold medal in front of a euphoric home crowd.
2013 saw them continue on their medal winning campaign, this time in Herning at the European Championships where another Team Gold medal was secured alongside an Individual Bronze. As if that wasn’t enough, Hello Sanctos put in a performance that had crowds on the edge of their seats when he and Scott also secured the 2013 Global Champions Tour title at the end of last year.
The accolade for Lady Kirkham and Lord & Lady Harris in holding the top two positions is a feat that no owner appears to have achieved before. For the accolade to be furthered by Ursula XII having been bred on home soil by Mrs Mary Turnbull is one that British Showjumping are incredibly proud to be acknowledging their congratulations and thanks for.
British Showjumping has never been in such a successful position. In addition to the tremendous achievement on the WBFSH Ranking Lists, British riders hold the top two positions on the World Ranking Lists in the form of Scott Brash (No.1) and Ben Maher. Ben Maher and Jane F Clark's tremendous grey mare Cella top the FEI Horse/Rider Combination Ranking Lists whilst we are also the only nation that have ever achieved a consecutive Olympic and European Team Gold medal in addition to two individual European Championship medals.
