Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre

This weekend saw Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre host the ninth Blue Chip Pony Newcomers second round. The second round was held on Saturday 20th July 2013 and it was held during the venue’s Pony Premier Show. The class was well contested, attracting a total of fifty-seven eligible starters.

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and all of the starting combinations were aiming to take one of these tickets home.

From the fifty-seven starters, nineteen combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and three combinations then went on to produce a treble clear to battle it out for the top two places.

Following a well fought jump off, the win was taken by the penultimate combination to compete in the second jump off. It was 15 year-old Chloe Reynolds from Somerset who took the top spot and she was on Money Spider V, a 10 year-old appaloosa mare owned by Katie Pike. The combination produced their immaculate treble clear in a time of 46.75 seconds to take the win by just 0.05 seconds.

Second place was taken by 14 year-old Charlotte Ash from Northumbria, who was competing on Killack King, an 8 year-old grey gelding owned by Shirley Ash. This combination was narrowly beaten into second place, stopping the clock on 46.80 seconds.

The first two pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013. Ponies and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013.
