Adam Botham and Nixon IV Dominate the GFS Saddles Senior Newcomers Masters

The GFS Saddles Senior Newcomers Masters took centre stage on Wednesday at the British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh Park, with riders from across the UK battling for one of the most coveted prizes of the week – a coveted qualification for the Horse of the Year Show this October. 

With so much at stake, the pressure was on as qualified combinations took to the arena, each hoping to secure their place at the prestigious championship. Delivering a superb performance when it mattered most was Adam Botham, who guided Warwickshire Horse Boxes' impressive stallion, Nixon IV, to victory. 

Having already secured his Horse of the Year Show qualification in the Senior Newcomers, Nixon IV once again demonstrated his quality, producing a winning performance to take the GFS Saddles Senior Newcomers Masters title. 

Speaking after his victory, Adam said: "He's a big unit to turn, you have a jump-off that suits him or a jump-off that doesn't. 

"He finds it very easy to do one less, so it worked out in my favour." 

Reflecting on what the win meant to him, he added: "It's great to win, my wife's won it twice, so at least I have one on the card now." 

The victory marked a memorable moment for Adam and Nixon IV, whose combination of scope, stride and experience proved the perfect formula in a highly competitive championship. While the stallion had already booked his ticket to the Horse of the Year Show, the win was a fitting reward for an outstanding performance at Stoneleigh and another major title to add to their growing list of achievements.
